Important Notes

Permanent and Total (P&T): A "100% P&T" rating means your disabilities are considered permanent and you are totally disabled. This unlocks additional benefits such as DEA Chapter 35 for dependents and property tax exemptions in most states.

Temporary 100%: Some 100% ratings are subject to future re-examination. Benefits may differ from permanent ratings -- for example, DEA Chapter 35 requires P&T status.

Individual Unemployability (TDIU): Veterans rated less than 100% may receive compensation at the 100% rate if they cannot maintain substantially gainful employment due to service-connected disabilities.

State Benefits Vary: Many states offer significant additional benefits (property tax exemptions, free vehicle registration, tuition waivers). Check your state VA office for state-specific programs.
